Who We Are
Africa Frontline First is a collaborative initiative that supports the scaling and strengthening of integrated and sustainable community health delivery in Africa. The initiative is founded on the belief that a robust community health infrastructure is essential to the delivery of effective, efficient, and equitable care.
Our Approach
Through a unique partnership between governments, political champions, donors, and experts, Africa Frontline First will catalyze increased investments to fund resilient, integrated, country-led community health programs. Our work extends across three pillars:

Financing
Advocate, design, and support the implementation of transformed financing mechanisms for sustainable community health delivery.

Political Championship
Cultivate regional political will and champions to support the acceleration of community health reforms, including increased domestic financing.

Country Leadership
Foster country peer learning to optimize country led community health performance supported by technical partners.
Why It Matters
Strong community health programs:

Save Lives
Advance prevention, vaccination, testing, and treatment to reduce the impact of COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS; and support maternal and child health.

Advance Health
Security
Bolster integrated digital disease surveillance in the community health workforce to monitor, quickly detect, and respond to emergent infectious disease threats.

Accelerate Economic Recovery
Build a compensated workforce of trained, supplied, digitally-equipped, and supervised community health workers—especially women—who contribute to the formal economy.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for
Women and Development
Under the leadership of H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the EJS Center seeks to amplify the voice of women and girls in all spheres of life by increasing the representation of women in public service leadership roles in Africa.
Community Health Acceleration Partnership
The Community Health Acceleration Partnership (CHAP) works to build stronger, more effective community-health systems through catalytic investments and strategic engagement. CHAP operates with speed and flexibility, focusing on vulnerable and underserved populations worldwide.

Community Health Impact Coalition
The Community Health Impact Coalition exists to make professionalized community health workers a norm worldwide. We catalyze the adoption of high-impact community health systems design by: (1) Identifying practices that lead to quality care delivery and (2) Accompanying partners to adopt those practices.
Financing Alliance for Health
The Financing Alliance for Health is a partnership that works with governments on financing strategies for primary and community health systems that operate at scale and are financially sustainable over time. We act as a bridge between the world of health and finance.
Last Mile Health
Last Mile Health works to save lives in the world’s most remote communities. We partner with governments to strengthen community health systems, train and grow the community health workforce, and deliver effective community-based primary care.
